Does your child often succumb to emotional fits of anger or tears? From toddler to teen, these emotional outbursts may seem normal, but there is definitely more to the story. Nutrition has an important role to play in balancing serotonin among many other vital neurotransmitters, and it all starts in the gut. We also have to be mindful of any stress our children may carry from parents arguments & family pressures. We as adults need to plug into better modalities that teach better communication, relaxation, Heart & Brain coherence for improved personal resilience.
It starts with us Mom & Dad. To be a good teacher you need to be a better student!
IN OTHER WORDS…PRACTICE WHAT YOU PREACH!
Lets get back in BALANCE and leave those FITS BEHIND!
Did you know a child’s IQ is directly related to brain development prenatal to postnatal up to 3-5 years of age?
Did you know Toxins & the Lack of certain Macro and micro nutrients are the direct result?
Macro-nutrients?
Lack of Macro-nutrients that directly affect early brain development are Protien, LC-PUFA’s i.e. DHA, which directly affect neuro-genesis and neurotransmitter systems.
As far as Micro-nutrients?
Eradication of the three most prevalent Micro-nutrient Deficiencies—iron, zinc, and iodine--could increase the world IQ by 10 points!
Food is definitely one of the main culprits when it comes to hyper activity. This is because food affects everything from the brain to the gut, and everything in-between, like the thyroid & nervous system.
Kids junk food affect the most precious developing parts of the child. Especially those organs and systems that require a ton of good fats that grow and protect the brain and nervous system. “Junk foods” are likely to have a lower intake of vitamins, minerals and essential fatty acids, particularly omega-3 and omega-6, which are vital building blocks for brain function ( Lauritzen et al., 2001 ).
Anything from food additives, pesticides, sugary food and drinks, and other environmental toxins can affect hormone levels that lower dopamine and serotonin and affect thyroid.
Lets also not forget stress factors going on at home or school that you may not know about that affect our children. They are the “silent sufferers.” If it affects the child’s mental and emotional capacity, in turn, it trickles down to the physical level.
Be mindful of the WHOLE BEING.
Its time to get strategic! I have a plan!
Injuries and exhaustion can come at a price, especially for those kids that are in athletics and competitive sports. Even you amazing parents running yourselves ragged to all events, great & small.
Fatigue, adrenal exhaustion, lack of proper rest and nutrition can all add up to the perfect storm.
Proper protein, electrolytes, minerals, and extra antioxidants are all part of an essential planned nutritional intake, especially for child athletes.
Lack of proper nutrients solidifies you or your child’s probabilities for injuries because of weak muscles, tendons, ligaments not to mention other symptoms that directly affect the nervous system, and nuero-pathways.
That’s just the tip of the iceberg!
Let’s not be the Titanic!

Does your child suffer from allergies, colds, flu’s more than they should?
Did you know a weakened immune system can come from 100’s & 1000’s of Toxins? Both inside and outside our Bodies! More now than ever our world is environmentally unhealthy. It’s everywhere. Inescapable and Seemingly unavoidable.
As a caring concerned Parent, what can we do?
Fortunately, there are many natural strategies that support detoxification, strengthen weakened immunity, and nourish you and your Kids health.
We first must know and recognize these nasty culprits then we can steer clear as best we can!
Let’s look at 2 top examples.
The effects of EDCs, like those of hormones, can occur at very low levels. High concentrations of EDCs are found in several everyday products including plastic bottles and food containers, and the leakage of EDCs into liquid or food content leads to dietary intake. Many of these endocrine disruptors cannot be excreted and bioacculmulate in our bodies! YUCKY!
Did you know excess sugars, especially SUCROSE & HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP, are directly related to promoting Type 2 Diabetes, Obesity and cardiovascular heart disease in both kids and adults? Sugar also impairs the innate immune response to be able to fight infections including viral, bacterial, fungal and parasites.
LET ME HELP PUT A PLAN TOGETHER TO PURGE THESE TOXINS & STRENGTHEN YOUR FAMILY’S IMMUNE SYSTEM!
At this time in history, the need has never been greater to support healthy eating and physical activity in children and youth. The sad truth is the numbers of overweight and obese children have doubled and tripled, respectively, over the past 3 decades.
As well as the numbers for children with type 2 Diabetes.
Poor eating habits, including to many high fructose sugary snacks and not enough real whole foods, for example more veggies & protein. In the Western Diets, children older than 4 years of age, more than 41% of daily snack calories come from other foods, such as chips, chocolate bars, soft drinks, fruit drinks, sugars, syrup, preserves, UNHEALTHY fats, and UNHEALTHY TOXIC oils. All of these factors play a role in childhood obesity and the onset of type 2 Diabetes.
ALL OF THESE THINGS BEING MARKETED & FED TO OUR CHILDREN ARE TERRIBLY WRONG!
THESE ARE TOXIC THINGS WITH ABSOLUTELY NO NUTRITIONAL VALUE, BUT MORE THAN THAT, ACTUALLY HARMFUL TO YOUR CHILD’S HEALTH!
On a more positive note, 🙂 Habits that protect against childhood obesity include eating more vegetables with limited fruit, eating meals with family, and being physically active. Children’s food habits and choices are influenced most by family, caregivers, friends, schools, marketing, and the media.
While I do know it is impossible to control every aspect of our children’s lives, (even though we can come awfully close!?) we can start by instilling in our kids to listen to their own bodies and honor the way we feel in our bodies, when we eat healthy.
It is never to early to start teaching these babies and toddlers! Trust me, They already know the difference, you are just reinforcing their little baby gut instincts!
The more Successful interventions for preventing childhood obesity combine family- and school-based programs, nutrition education, dietary change, physical activity, family participation, and counseling. We as parents should never stop learning & we should never stop teaching our kiddos. That is our duty!
IN OTHER WORDS…IT TAKES A VILLAGE!! (AND COACH JODY AS YOUR GUIDE!)
LET’S DO THIS!
As parents, we want nothing more than for our kids to live healthy, balanced lives.
Sometimes we see challenges in our kids’ bodies or behavior that we don’t realize can actually be caused by the traditional American diet and culture. Our kids are currently undernourished and overfed which can lead to a multitude of issues for them such as melt downs, sleepless nights, focus and attention difficulties, constant sports injuries, feeling overwhelmed, fatigue, aggression, anxiety, dehydration and unfortunately so much more.
This is why Healthy Meals 4 Kids was born, to give parents healthier alternatives to the typical Western diet and take the guess work out.
Supporting our children through nutrition so they can be the very best versions of themselves!
